Wacom Drawing Tablets with Compatible Digitizer Pens

Intuos3 Grip Pen Grip Pen Intuos4 / Cintiq 21UX With so many Wacom drawing tablet models, it is difficult to keep track of which digitizer pen will work with which graphic tablet.

Usually, digitizer pens are assigned to their particular graphic tablet, and are not compatible with any other drawing tablet.

However, there are some series of Wacom drawing tablets that have interchangeable pens and tablets.

Basically, each Wacom graphic tablet model number starts with three capital letters which refers to the type of tablet. These letters are then followed by 3 digits, which usually is associated with the size of the tablet. When it comes to pen compatibility, all we need is the 3 capital letters of the model number.

In the following tables, the digitizer pens and drawing tablets, which fall in the sections with the same color, are compatible with each other. For example, the Intuos4 section is red. All the pens function with all the tablets in this red section. Pens from one color-coded section are not compatible with tablets from another different color-coded section and vice versa.
